How to Use This Course

The W140 Customization Projects course introduces the basic functionality of the Acumatica Customization
Platform and explains how to use its customization tools.
The course is intended for system analysts and business consultants who have experience using Acumatica ERP.
The course is based on several customization tasks that demonstrate the general approach to customizing
Acumatica ERP within customization projects and managing these customization projects.
The course consists of four parts, which take a total of about six hours to complete.

What the Course Prerequisites Are

To complete the course successfully, you should have common knowledge of Acumatica ERP and be familiar with
its user interface. Knowledge of the accounts receivable and customer relationship management capabilities of the
system is desirable but not necessary.

What Is in a Part

The first part of the course explains how to create a customization project. The other parts of the course are
dedicated to the customization of Acumatica ERP.
Each part of the course consists of lessons you should complete.

What Is in a Lesson

Each lesson is dedicated to a particular customization scenario that you can perform by using the Acumatica
customization tools.

           We recommend that you complete lessons in the order in which they are provided in the course,
           because some lessons use the results of previous ones.

What the Documentation Resources Are

The complete Acumatica ERP and Acumatica Framework documentation is available at https://help.acumatica.com/
and is included in the Acumatica ERP instance. While viewing any form used in the course, you can click the Open
Help button in the top pane of the Acumatica ERP screen to bring up a form-specific Help menu; you can use the
links on this menu to quickly access form-related information and activities and to open a reference topic with
detailed descriptions of the form elements.

Which Training Environment You Should Use

All lessons of the course should be completed in an instance of Acumatica ERP 2025 R1 with the T100 training
dataset preloaded; this dataset provides the predefined settings and entities you will need as you complete the
activities of this course.
You need to prepare an instance of Acumatica ERP 2025 R1, as described in Customization Projects: To Deploy an
Instance.

Which Credentials You Should Use

You complete all lessons of this course by using the admin user and the password that you have specified when you
deployed the instance.

Which License You Should Use

For the educational purposes of this course, you use Acumatica ERP under the trial license, which does not require activation and provides all available features. For the production use of this functionality, you have to activate the license your organization has purchased. Each particular feature may be subject to additional licensing; please consult the Acumatica ERP licensing policy for details. Company Story and Customization Description | 7

Company Story and Customization Description

Suppose that you are an employee of a company that is a partner of Acumatica and develops business solutions for customers. Yogifon, the largest satellite phone operator in the world, has decided to replace its aging ERP system with Acumatica ERP. You are going to customize Acumatica ERP for this customer. Further suppose that you have been assigned the following tasks to implement the customization:

  • Customize the Customers (AR303000) form of Acumatica ERP by doing the following:
  • Add a predefined field (Address Type)
  • Reorganize the layout on the Financial tab
  • Add an action that opens the Open Sales Orders by Customers (GI400001) generic inquiry form; you will also import the generic inquiry
  • For the new action, add the associated command on the More menu
  • Customize the Cases (CR306000) form of Acumatica ERP as follows:
  • Configure conditions for displaying certain actions and fields
  • Add a new tab, and add new boxes to this tab
  • Add a column (Reported On) to the lookup table of a box (Case ID)
  • Add a side panel that displays the contacts of a business account
  • Customize the Leads (CR301000) form by configuring conditions for displaying certain actions and fields
  • Customize the Sales Orders (SO301000) form by adding an action that generates the Sales Order Details by Customer (SO611000) report; you will also add the associated button on the form toolbar and the command on the More menu
  • Customize the Customer Locations (AR303020) form by adding a user-defined field to it (Network Type)
  • Add a previously prepared generic inquiry and import scenario to the customization project
